Take part in survey to help fix the taxi industry
THE Gladstone region is not alone when it comes to issues with taxis.
A wide-ranging inquiry into the Victorian taxi and hire car industries was launched in March 2011 and the final report is before the Victorian Government.
It found the industry as a whole had deep structural and systemic flaws, lacked innovation and had outdated practices inappropriate in the 21st century.
Doug Clark from the Professional Drivers Association provided much input to the Victorian inquiry and he contacted The Observer this week.
He said recent stories regarding our taxi service in Gladstone reflected public disquiet and that the taxi industry business model prevents significant improvements to service levels.
He is urging residents to take a Gladstone taxi survey and fill out a taxi complaint form at professionaldrivers.com.au
