Havoc's five fight card promises hell of a show
IT IS the biggest fight night in the history of the WBF and Harbour City Havoc 2 is ready to shake the Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre.
While changes have occurred in the weeks leading up to tonight's five fight card, the man who calls Gladstone his boxing home in Australia Mark de Mori is still headlining the card, which includes the most titles belts on the line at a WBF night in its history.
"Altogether we have got four world titles and two international titles, as well as a Queensland championship," promoter Anthony Coleiro said.
After beginning preparations more than a year ago, Coleiro is beaming that the 10 fighters are ready to go, believing it will could possibly be the best show Gladstone will see.
The big point for Coleiro and the fighters is not just the enormity of belts on the line, but also the fact the boxers will benefit so handsomely.
"These fighters are getting paid," Coleiro said.
"Garry Hansen and myself have worked together to put this all on.
"Profit has not come into it one bit - it is for the fighters and giving Gladstone one hell of a show."
While the crowd is in for a night of top class boxing, including de Mori's 24-1 record and 15th WBA ranking, the Gladstone centre managers are glad to be presenting their new digs.
While neither the promoter nor the hosts will be taking any profit, sponsor Ken Corfield sees that as the vital piece in making the card possible.
"In 45 years of living here, I have never seen anything like it," he said of the fight card and the different organisers working together.
"It is just about all sold out.
"I would say that for Gladstone it is huge.
"It will be dripping in champagne."
