Have your say on Cemetery Rd sewerage pump station upgrade
GLADSTONE Regional Council has invited the public to participate in a community consultation process for the proposed upgrade of its sewerage pump station at Cemetery Rd, Gladstone.
Council proposes to upgrade the existing facility by installing a 1ML concrete tank to increase storage capacity during emergency.
Council's Engineering Services portfolio spokesperson Councillor Rick Hansen said the upgrade was necessary to ensure the facility could cope with future emergency storage requirements.
"As part of the works being conducted by Council to improve the performance and efficiency of its sewer network, Council is increasing its emergency storage capability in order to reduce possible environmental impacts," Cr Hansen said.
"The project will require Council to rezone and acquire more than 3000m2 of State Government park reserve near the pump station which is located immediately west of Gladstone Cemetery.
"In keeping with its requirements to undertake such measures, Council is consulting with stakeholders and the general public in a community consultation process.
"The consultation period opens on Monday (Nov 23) and Gladstone Region residents and other interested parties have until December 7 to comment on the proposal."
