Harbour City Off Road Challenge went without a hitch
MOTORSPORT: The feedback from riders from as far north as Proserpine and south to the Gold Coast was the icing on the cake.
The weekend's Harbour City Motorcycles Off Road Challenge went without a hitch and event promoter Brad Harris said expectations were exceeded.
Matt Murry cleaned up both Saturday's sprints category and the enduro class on Sunday on his Sherco SE-R250 which he described as "awesome all weekend".
And it augurs well for the next such event at the same Turkey Beach venue on September 16 which will be in a Pony X-Press format.
"It went better than expected because there were no injuries, especially in Saturday's sprint race where injuries are more common," Harris said of the weekend's off-road event.
"It was well supported by the local riders and we had riders coming from Airlie Beach, Blackwater, Toowoomba, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Mackay and even had one lady who brought her son out to ride and they came from Proserpine.
"The track was dusty and on Saturday, riders started 45 seconds apart so that they are essentially not riding behind a cloud of dust."
Gladstone rider Brett Scott finished second in the Masters Over-45 category while young gun Zac Perry dominated in the sprints and Sunday's enduro-based phase.
