Grand lady returns to Gladstone Marina after flood delay

THE Lady Evelyn made a splash when she returned to Gladstone Marina on Tuesday after a 10-month delay because of the January floods.

The 17-tonne boat ended the journey from Boyne Island to Gladstone on a 200-tonne MIPEC crane, ahead of splashdown in the marina at 7.30am.

Tannum Sands owner Edwina Harding had planned the move last year, before the flooding in January arrived.

But with a fresh lick of paint and some TLC from the community, the boat is back in Gladstone waters.

"Our friends and my husband Ian have worked on it for the last five months as a full-time job," Mrs Harding said.

"But it was Mark Dempster who made the defining difference. It was a huge investment of community goodwill," she said.
