Grand final is massive for the sporting community at BITS

AUSSIE RULES: All the planning has been put into place for the biggest day at BITS Saints Football Club this Saturday.

The club will host the AFL Capricornia grand final for the first time and the Saints have four of the six grades in the big dance all against Yeppoon Swans.

BITS' junior teams in the under-17, U15 and U13 grades have made it to September while the Saints' reserves will attempt consecutive titles.

Saints' club president Andrew McMahon said Saturday is a day for all the community to get involved - and from all sporting codes.

"I have had a lot of enquiries from people from rugby and basketball and they were interested to see that all the games will be played at the same place and not at different other locations like they do in other sports," he said.

"It will be a really good and fun day for the whole community."

McMahon also said that planning took two months and he is confident all the 'I's' have been dotted and 'T's' crossed.

"There will be 24-hour security at the ground on Friday night and all the line-work will be done on Friday," he said.

"We will have a lot of shade around the ground with marquees and two bars will be operating from 1pm onwards."

Post-game celebrations will be heightened with live entertainment with music by Boyne-Tannum artist Nathan 'Truck' Bedford.

For those who would like to make a whole weekend of it, people can book accommodation via the Boyne Island Caravan Park, Reef Adventureland Motor Inn, Tannum Sands Caravan Park, Boyne Island Motel and Villas.

Grand final games start at 8.30am and continue through to the A-grade clash between Yeppoon Swans and Glenmore Bulls at 5.15pm
