Government waiting for green light to release road funding
THE Federal Government is "simply waiting" for the green light to release $50 million in funding for the Gladstone Port Access Rd, says Infrastructure Minister Anthony Albanese.
The project, which is yet to receive State Government approval, made the Federal Budget for the third year in a row on Tuesday night.
Mr Albanese said $1 million would go towards planning and preconstruction work, which was already under way.
While there was no new money for the Bruce Hwy, the $637 million set aside for unfinished projects would result in the completion of the intersection between the Bruce and Dawson Hwys.
Treasurer Wayne Swan said this budget would make Australia a "stronger, smarter and fairer" country.
