Gladstone's the place to buy fuel for the long weekend

THE price of fuel in Gladstone will be 10 cents cheaper per litre than south east Queensland for this long weekend according to the RACQ fair fuel watch.

RACQ's Renee Smith said the prices in Gladstone weren't too bad.

"If people are planning a road trip for the long weekend in Gladstone they will be paying better prices than people in the south east," she said.

"Prices in Gladstone are very much on par with other areas such as Mackay, Rockhampton and Townsville.

"We don't see much movement in the regional areas and they have some reasonable prices compared to the south east that have cycles.

She recommended customers shopped around and supported the stations with the lowest prices.

"Never wait until you're on empty or you will be stuck paying whatever prices the closest station has," she said.

She said they didn't expect different stations to have a big difference in the quality of fuel and price was the main concern customers should worry about.
