Gladstone's Phoenix Power takes a blow in the semi-finals

GLADSTONE Phoenix Power's hopes of a fourth championship in five years have fallen short, going down to Ipswich in the QBL semi-finals 78-60.

Gladstone went to Mackay with hopes of delivering on the hard work they had put in all year, but were let down by a poor shooting percentage on just 28%.

The usual sharpshooters were unable to deliver in the big match, and while Ipswich were also unable to shoot at a high percentage from the field, the better conversion rate from the foul line and an extra eight free throw attempts was a big boost for the southern side.

Gladstone now have to wait another 12 months to prove they can extend the dynasty, while Ipswich have earned the right to try and topple the powerful Mackay in the Grand Final.
