Tannum ready to take on defending premiers
GLADSTONE Wallabys are preparing for a tough match when they host Tannum Seagulls at Albion Park on Sunday.
Wallabys president Adam Hamilton said the club was keen for its first home game of the season.
He said he had been to a Seagulls game this season and had been impressed with what he saw.
"I think it will be pretty tough between us and Tannum," Hamilton said.
With some players heading to Rockhampton to play for Gladstone Raiders today, Hamilton said the home team may be affected.
"I daresay there will be a couple that won't play due to the rep game on Saturday.
"We will rest them if we have the luxury."
Seagulls A-grade coach Sam Stewart said his representative players wouldn't have that option. "They'll need to back up on Sunday because we only have a small squad," Stewart said.
Up against the defending premiers, he said his team were definitely the underdogs but he wasn't counting them out.
"Hopefully our boys can lift accordingly," he said. "We'll be competitive."
Both teams were keen to play some footy after having two weeks off due to byes and the Easter holidays. The under-18s will kick off tomorrow's action at noon followed by reserve grade at 1.15pm and A grade at 2.45pm.
The other game of round five on Sunday will be Brothers vs Calliope played at Marley Brown with a grade kicking off at 4:00pm.
