Gladstone spruiked on new tourism website
GLADSTONE will become better known after Tourism and Events Queensland unveiled a new-look website for global travellers on Wednesday.
Queensland.com is the state's official tourism website, and it will be enhanced with a visitor phone app.
Gladstone and surrounds are being marketed with a flourish.
"Sandstone wilderness to the west and Southern Great Barrier Reef to the east, the heart of Gladstone City is blessed with the best of both worlds, not to mention perfect sailing conditions," the website reads.
It suggests visitors kick-start the morning with a coffee and cruise of the harbour and walk to Auckland and Round Hill lookouts for 360-degree city views.
Fishing is a key part of Gladstone, with suggestions to "live the angler's dream catching yellowbelly on the 'Bass to Barra Trail' and try to land the day's biggest catch at a fishing competition".
TEQ chief executive Leanne Coddington said Queensland.com welcomed more than 3.7 million visits a year and was the front door for travellers considering a trip to the state.
