Gladstone's favourite shops merge at new mega pet store

Welcome to Fiction Friday, the once-a-week time for us all to have a bit of fun at the end of the working week. Note: The story below is completely fictional. Any resemblance to real people, events or issues is purely coincidental.

ALL of Gladstone's favourite shopping experiences will come together in one place when a new pet store featuring jewellery, a gym for overweight pets and Indian-themed treats opens in the former Crazy Clark's site at the Windmill Centre later this month.

The mega-store will carry the usual range of pet products, as well as a unique range of pet bling.

And in a first for Gladstone, special trainers will be available to give advice to owners of overweight pets who want to return their loved ones to good health.

Trainers will be able to formulate individual exercise programs for pets, which can be carried out at the store's pet gym.

The store's range of Indian-themed pet treats will feature delicacies such as butter chicken chew toys, tandoori and yoghurt rodent treats, and rogan josh teeth cleaners.

Store owner John Ratburn said he expected the store to be popular in Gladstone, given the number of jewellery stores, gyms, Indian takeaway stores and pet stores in town.

"Clearly Gladstone people love these things, so what better way to cater to the market than to extend their popularity to pets?" Mr Ratburn said.

"And bringing them all together in one store.. it'll be shopping heaven."

Mr Ratburn said the store's jewellery range would be especially popular.

It will feature crystal necklaces for dogs and cats, fashion harnesses in the latest colours, hats your dog will be thrilled to be seen in, and the coolest sunglasses around.

There also will be matching items for humans, so pet owners can co-ordinate their outfits with their animals.

"There'll be no need to go out of town to find all your pet's fashion needs," Mr Ratburn said.
