GAPDL contract extended until December 2016

GLADSTONE Regional Council has approved the extension of its contract with Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Ltd (GAPDL) until December 31, 2016.

The existing contract has been in place for three and a half years and was extended by a further six months earlier this year to enable the council to conduct an internal review of existing arrangements and determine a preferred future model for the delivery of economic development services.

Mayor Gail Sellers said the existing contract is due to expire at the end of this month, resulting in the council's need to extend the current services and contractual agreements until the new contract can be executed.

"It was decided that the GAPDL contract be temporarily extended as it was considered to be the only organisation capable of providing economic development, marketing, tourism and visitor information services to the council over the next four years," Cr Sellers said.
