GALLERY: Double dose of losses for Gladstone sides

CRICKET: It was not the best weekend for both Gladstone-based teams in round five of the Frenchville Sports Club Capricorn Challenge competition.

BITS and The Glen both lost their respective games against Cap Coast Parkana and Frenchville on Saturday.

The tough season continues for the BITS team with a 50-run loss to Capricorn Coast Parkana at BITS Oval.

But at least there were more positives than negatives for a club which has lost seven players from its top-tier team this season.

One of the positives was that BITS made 140 in its chase of 190 set by the visitors.

The other positive were the efforts from the BITS bowlers which were led by captain Terry Sawyer who took five wickets with his crafty leg-spin bowling.

The Glen were bundled out for just 85 at the Frenchville Sports Complex with Jason Seng the top scorer with 28.

The undefeated Frenchville made hard work and got the runs with just two wickets to spare with The Glen Sam Lowry's 5-28 a highlight.

"The pitch was fine and we just batted bad with poor shot selection,” Lowry said.

"If we had made another 30 runs, we would've won that.”
