IT'S the end of an era but the start of something new, only it's not borrowed and the walls will no longer be blue.

Gladstone Bridal Boutique is changing hands as Ceona Mills hands the reins to her daughter and protege Kershur.

Before Ceona took over the store on Goondoon St more than 10 years ago, it had already been established for more than 30 years.

"I am ready to do something different," Ceona Mills said. "I love all the fabrics and laces. The gowns and girls you get to deal with making someone's day special.

"But I will find a new passion."

Now Kershur, who inherited her mother's love of fabric, lace and weddings, is looking to put a modern spin on the shop.

On December 12 renovation works will start and the blue walls will be painted over, the carpet replaced with timber floor boards and an elegant chandelier installed.

"I want a fresh look with a pretty, romantic feel," Kershur said. "My mum has taught me everything I know and I am really excited to be taking over from her."

Ceona's best piece of advice for her daughter was to stay true to herself and do good business.

" "I know she will do a wonderful job," Ceona said.
