Frenchville skittle Yaralla in six overs

CRICKET Frenchville smashed Yaralla by 10 wickets in a lop-sided Capricorn Challenge match on Saturday.

The hosts did it easily chasing down Yaralla's paltry target of 21 in just six overs.

Yaralla's batsmen offered little resistance and were bowled out for just 21.

Six batsmen failed to score which included Josh Andrew while captain Jason Batchelor made just two runs.

Harry Rideout scored the bulk of the runs for Yaralla with 10 while the second best batsman was Jitesh Patel who made three runs.

"We elected to bat, but we basically got ourselves out,” Yaralla skipper Batchelor said.

"The pitch was good and we can't fault it.

"The Frenchville bowlers bowled well and in the right areas.”

Of those was Charlie Simic who tore through the Yaralla top order to take 5-8 while Leighton Milburn chimed in with 3-6.Brent Hartley (16no) and Jason Wells (8no) then got the job done with a minimum of fuss.

"We were lucky enough to get through the top order early where they have a couple of good openers,” Wells said in reference to Batchelor and Josh Andrew.

"The pitch had a little bit of grass on it, but it played pretty normal.”

Wells added that his team was advantaged by having a two month pre-season and having played its first game in Rockhampton last weekend.
