GLADSTONE Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire in Clinton this morning.

Officers received a call at approximately 11.30am advising a small grass fire had ignited on the side of Dawson Hwy, close to Chapman Dr.

The fire was quickly extinguished by a Gladstone central crew and station officer Mark Erridge said there was no threat to people or property.

The cause of the blaze has not been determined.

The area was deemed safe by midday.

Mr Erridge said everyone is expecting a busy fire season to continue throughout the summer months.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Service would like to advise of a heightened fire danger for Central Queensland over the weekend.
