HOW to Buy A House for $1 - the title seems to sell itself.

After a hugely successful giveaway in The Observer two weeks earlier, Believe Advertising has donated five more copies of property expert Rick Otton's new book to the Gladstone public.

For your chance to pick up one of Rick Otton's books - simply email your full name in to The Observer to tammy.lewis@gladstoneobserver.com.au.

The first five emails win.

Otton's approach to property provides information on alternative ways of buying and selling real estate that most investors and first home buyers aren't aware of.

Studies indicate that on average a couple will need to save for at least five and half years to meet the minimum 10% deposit requirements for a $60,000 deposit and a first home owner 13 years to save for a 20% deposit for a deposit of $100,000.

Aussies who are wanting to get a foot in the real estate market, but who haven't saved enough of a deposit can now buy a house through strategies that have been around since the 1850's.

In his book, Rick outlines how you can achieve home ownership or build a property portfolio now without having to wait 5 to 13 years with these proven strategies.

" I decided to write the book as the current system fails to work for many everyday Australians.

"At the end of the day, it's about negotiating the terms of the agreement rather than the actual price of the property - this is where many buyers and sellers become unstuck."

Mr Otton said the book challenges the current ways of purchasing and selling property, and asks you to change your thinking process.

"How would you buy a house if you couldn't buy a property the traditional way? " Mr Otton said.
