Fashion tips for any shape, size at Buy Local event

AN event where women of all shapes and sizes can get fashion styling advice, makeovers, a fashion parade of all shapes and styles and a few laughs with friends? Sounds like fun to me.

Just as exciting is the opportunity for our local women's fashion outlets to show local women what they can offer in clothing, accessories and genuine customer service, while being able to listen to the needs of local consumers.

Style Me Up is a joint initiative of the Gladstone Chamber of Commerce and Industry and The Observer as part of the Buy Local campaign, to connect women with local fashion outlets.

At the event various body types will be displayed with women given advice on dressing for their shape.

This concept may not be new to those who follow fashion trends.

However, for those of you like me, with very little fashion sense, will value all the advice we can get. Either way, an afternoon of sharing fashion tips and shopping with friends will provide endless entertainment, I'm sure.

Women's clothing is one of the highest reported items purchased online or outside of the region, with regular comments including: "There is nothing for women like me in Gladstone".

On the other hand, our local outlets are working double time hunting for brands and styles that local women want and seeking marketing opportunities that will connect women with their stores.

Style Me Up will do just that, link local women to local stores, allowing store owners to meet women from across the region, listen to their needs and show the style of clothes they stock. A win-win for all.

As part of the Buy Local campaign, the chamber is calling for expressions of interest from women's fashion outlets for the Style Me Up event to be held on Sunday, May 25.

To be part of the event, contact the Buy Local team on (07) 4978 7800 or email buylocal@amarna.com.au.

Tickets to attend the event will also be released in the near future.
