Fashion sisters show how it’s done at Gladstone Cup

SPENDING the week running around looking for the perfect pair of shoes to go with that winning dress is all worth it for a tap on the shoulder at the races.

That tap comes from the Gladstone Cup's Fashion on the Field preliminary judges.

Bundaberg sisters Ainsleigh and Hannah Savage took out this year's Fashion in the Field, with Jodie Hinchcliffe, a Gladstone local, winning the best fascinator award.

The judges said there were some beautiful frocks at this year's Cup, but they had to narrow the field down to 12 contenders.

Jackie Long from Lily Hair said the ladies' outfits were gorgeous but encouraged more attention to detail when it came to the headwear.

Ms Hinchcliffe sported the prime example with a fascinator she bought back in April from Ipswich designer, Pink Lane Hats.

A Fashion in the Field natural, Ms Hinchcliffe heard about Pink Lane through a number of friends and online.

"I just had the dress and I bought the fascinator to go with it," she said.

First prize in the fashion stakes went to 23-year-old Ainsleigh Savage, who was looking wonderful in a cream and dusty frock.

"I got it from Review in Brisbane," she said.

"It took a day to throw the whole ensemble together."

Younger sister Hannah, who came second, was keen to get chosen for this year's Fashion in the Field.

"It's good to get a couple of wears out of a dress though," she said.

She said she threw her outfit together at the last minute.

"I got the fascinator and jewellery from a store in Bundaberg," she said.

While the women shone, there were also some spiffy looking males throughout the crowds.
