Fans honour Hughes: #putoutyourbats
PEOPLE around the world are joining Australia to mourn the death of cricketer Phillip Hughes.
Sydney father Paul Taylor placed his cricket bat at his front door as a mark of respect and tweeted a photo with the hashtag #putoutyourbats.
The tribute has since gone global, with fans from Toowoomba to London joining in.
Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland has thanked the "broader cricket community around the country for the wonderful show of support given to Phillip and his family".
"From social media to phone calls to our front desk, the support has been tremendous and I want to thank you on behalf of Australian cricket," he said.
Cricket Australia has dedicated a page for tributes to Hughes and his "contribution to the game of cricket".
