Man charged with arson after family home destroyed
FRIDAY 10.40AM: A KOONGAL man will appear in court today accused of arson and theft after a fire destroyed a family home yesterday.
The 32-year-old man was charged with arson overnight after the fire engulfed a Pftzemaier St home at 4am Thursday.
Police don't believe it was a random incident.
The man is expected in Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
THURSDAY 2.15PM: POLICE have spoken to the occupants of a home which was destroyed in a blaze this morning.
The occupants were not home at the time of the fire and police were this morning trying to contact them.
Senior Sergeant Adrian Brock said forensic investigations at the house were ongoing, as authorities work to determine the cause of the fire.
"Until we can determine as an arson or not, we'll treat it as suspicious," Snr Sgt Brock said.
10.30AM: QUEENSLAND Police have confirmed they are treating a fire which destroyed a family home this morning as suspicious.
Investigations are ongoing.
8AM: A FAMILY home was destroyed by fire in the early hours of this morning.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews were called to Pfitzemaier Street at 4am, with the house fully engulfed in flames by this time.
Queensland Police said several adults and children lived at the Norman Gardens home, but no one was injured in the blaze and it is unclear how many people were home at the time.
Police will investigate the cause of the fire.
