Expressions of interest called for East Shores markets

A GLADSTONE Regional Council advertisement in the Weekend Observer has called for expressions of interest for market management rights, and market stallholders at East Shores.

It says: "Gladstone will soon become a port of call for major cruise ships. In preparation for this exciting period of tourism growth, expressions of interest are sought for the following…"

1. Management rights: Community and not-for-profit organisations interested in development, coordinating, managing and running East Shores markets in Gladstone. The ad states the successful coordinating group would manage 100 stallholder-strong markets, coinciding with the arrival of the cruise ships. It would be an 18-month agreement initially.

2. Stallholders are also being asked to express their interest. Preference will be given to those with arts, crafts, wares, food or other goods that have a local theme or showcase the offerings of Central Queensland and Australia. There are 100 sites available.
