Two weeks to go until biggest fishing competition

THERE are only 14 days until the 20th edition of the Boyne Tannum HookUp.

Entries are still open and if you want to be part of this event where you could win some of the massive $300,000 in prizes and cash!

The Top prize is a 602 Haines Signature, ready to go with 150hp 4 stroke Suzuki outboard also fitted with Garmin electronics Valued at $90,000.

This is an amazing prize to celebrate the 20 years of this event but you need to be entered and present when you're called out (conditions apply).

Entries are available online at boynetannumhookup.com.au, or at Pat's Tackle World and Boxy's Boyne Island Bait and Tackle store.

There is a great line up of guests being Phippsy and Dave, the barefoot fisherman Hodge and Ernie Dingo.

But it's not all about that, is it?

It's about mates, it's about the boys fishing, along with some of the ladies who love to wet a line, while the remaining ladies do cappuccino and some shopping.

The event isn't about how many you can catch but the biggest one in each of the species.

This past week we have seen the numbers of spanish mackerel and black jew steadily climb.

The Boyne River is producing some solid flathead. The top of Collo has some yellow fin whiting lurking around.

Ex-local Mike Brady just loves his whiting fishing and last week he nailed one down at Bargara which was 38cm!

Do they get bigger up here? You betcha!

They plan to close entries around the last week leading up to the event so don't leave it until then.

It's going to be a cracker weekend and some records will be broken.
