DZ Deathrays keen to play El Grande gig
THE upcoming El Grande Festival has a great list of acts heading to the Grand Hotel in Gladstone.
DZ Deathrays' Shane Parsons shared how the duo is feeling ahead of the gig on Saturday, March 2.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I'm 24/7 DZ Deathrays. This band consumes my life pretty much these days.
I grew up in Bundaberg with Simon (drummer from DZ) and we both moved to Brisbane for university and started the band there.
I now live in Sydney and we do a long-distance band relationship, which is weird and good at the same time.
What do you know about the El Grande Festival?
I have never had the chance to go, but from what I've heard, it's one of the better things that's happening in Gladstone and last year's festival was really rad.
We are stoked to be making it up there.
What can fans expect?
It's going to be loud and sweaty. Expect to hear tracks from both of our albums and even a couple of really old songs from the EPs we released at the start of our career.
What is your ultimate goal with music?
Just to continue, if the band is self-sufficient and we keep afloat in such a tough industry then I'm happy.
Hopefully musical ideas keep coming too, I don't know what I would do with all my time otherwise.
What do you do in your spare time?
Write music, drink beer, do the occasional DJ set.
