Man admits threat to kill security guard was 'stupid'
"IT was stupid, really stupid."
Joshua Clifford Graham Durant accurately summed up his own behaviour in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where he was sentenced for single counts of being drunk or disorderly in licensed premises and assaulting or obstructing a police officer.
At 2am on December 8, Durant had been escorted out of The Reef Hotel for being intoxicated when he started a verbal assault on security guards and the police, the court heard.
Durant threatened to kill security guards as they removed him, before struggling with officers as they attempted to arrest him.
"You're both f***** dead, I'll find your family and kill them all, you have no idea who you're f***** with c****," Durant shouted.
Durant told the court he had no memory of events before his appearance.
Magistrate Russell Warfield ordered a conviction be recorded against Durant, fined him $750 for both offences and banned him from The Reef Hotel, Central Lane Hotel and Bojangles for six months.
