Drivers to rev up in first meet of season
MOTORSPORT: Round one of the Khanacross Series is on Sunday at the Benaraby Motorsport Complex.
Classes for competition will be based on engine capacity and vehicle type, which include up to two litres, over two litres, 4WD production and offroad specials.
Course clerk Jamie Overend said there were several Gladstone contenders.
"Local drivers Mark Boyd, John Donohoe and Keith Honour will be out to do well and kick-off the new year," he said.
"They will be mixing it up with around half a dozen drivers coming from Rockhampton, Bundaberg and Hervey Bay."
Overend described Khanacross as grass roots motorsport at its best.
"It consists of a number of tests/tracks where competitors are timed from leaving a 'start' garage and finishing in a 'stop' garage," he said.
Racing starts at 9.30am.
