Gladstone drivers rev up for Lowmead charity event

THE Gladstone 4WD Club's Clarkey's Legends of Lowmead Charity event is back this Saturday, tearing up dirt in Lowmead.

The event starts at 8am, with a family competition that includes three classes - family, women's and weekend warriors class.

"We first started at Clarkey's place four years ago and we have held the Mini Comp three years and this year will be the fourth for the 3 Car Challenge," organiser Troy Tenheggeler said.

The club is expecting around 400 spectators to turn out to watch the event, with free camping on offer from Friday night.

The GPS event, which is open to anyone with an adequate system, starts at 1.30pm before the main event the Mini Comp starts at 3pm.

"We don't want the person with the most horsepower to win, so we have thrown in a few curly things to even the playing field," Tenheggeler said.

The cost for the event is $15 for adults and free for kids under 15.
