Doyle Perez lines up for El Grande festival

EL GRANDE has a mixed bag of acts in the line-up, and one of the most exceptional artists to take the stage is D at Sea.

Doyle Perez does acoustic covers of heavy songs such as Parkway Drive, Drake, The Amity Affliction and others.

He'll play alongside Drawcard, DZ Deathrways, Dream on Dreamer, 28 Days, Voyager, City Shakeup and more heavy metal bands on Sunday, March 22, at the Grand Hotel.

Pulse had a chat with the busy Doyle, who gave us a glimpse of what he will bring to the festival.

Q. Tell us a bit about yourself.

A. My name is Doyle Perez. I'm from the Sunshine Coast. I sing and play guitar for D AT SEA, it's a good time! I like the beach, tea and dogs.

Q. What's something people don't know about you?

A. I play a whole tonne of CODAW on Xbox. Aside from that I'm quite active with gym, work, merch and playing guitar/practising.

I blend a juice every morning, I meditate every night before bed and am currently reading the book, Name of the Wind, by Patrick Rothfuss.

Q. Have you been to Gladstone before?

A. No, but I'm stone glad to be visiting! Ha ha ha! For real though.

I haven't played there before so I'm psyched to meet and hang with new peeps and make some new friends.

Hopefully Gladstone is keen for some chills & and the wall of hugs.

Q. What do you know about the El Grande Festival?

A. Three days. Sweet bands. Good vibes. If you're not going to be there, then you're going to miss out! Hosted by my girlfriend Ariana Grande, hence the name.

Q. How did you know you wanted to be a musician?

A. I'm not too fond of the idea of a normal routine life. I don't want to get married, have kids and settle down.

That is easily the most boring thing I can think of right now.

Music presents opportunities for adventure. It has always been the one thing I'm very passionate about.

When I'm on stage, I feel like I'm doing what I should be doing. I'm very lucky to do what I do and I really enjoy it!

Q. What can fans expect at your concert?

A. Mosh, wall of death, throwing down, front flips, backflips, side flips, mic grabs, sing-alongs, wall of hugs, sitting down, sh***y guitar skills, chillin' and good chills.

Q. What is your ultimate goal with music?

A. Support One Direction and Justin Beiber, ha. I want to continue what I'm doing, just on a larger scale so I'm not forever broke.

I'd like to continue connecting with fans on a personal level, through my music, social media and meeting them at shows. More music, merch, tours, bigger venues etc.

The classic cliché dream I guess, but true, nonetheless. Ultimately I just want to be happy and enjoy life. For you only live once. #YOLO
