Pizza stores prepare for big weekend with two grand finals

HUNDREDS of kilograms of cheese, thousands of litres of pizza sauce and enough dough to cover both the MCG and ANZ Stadium around 2000 times.

That's the amount of ingredients the Eagle Boys network needs to prepare for its biggest pizza rush in three years with both the AFL and NRL footy grand finals falling on the same weekend.

Gladstone Sun Valley Eagle Boys store owner Luke Dahtler is ready and waiting for the onslaught.

While players lace up their boots and prepare to hit the ground running, Mr Dahtler's team members are fine-tuning their skills and facing off in pizza-making time trials.

Preparation is to ensure they're in top form to satisfy both AFL and NRL fans across the marathon weekend.

Eagle Boys general manager retail Nick Vincent said stores were expecting to break records for the highest number of pizzas produced in one weekend during grand final fever on October 3-4.

"The amount of pizzas Eagles Boys stores are forecasting to produce across the grand finals weekend would feed the entire 2015 team ladders of both footy codes for a week," he said. "It's not just the Eagle Boys pizza makers that will feel the heat. The amount of kilometres covered by Eagle Boys delivery drivers across the two-day stint will far exceed the combined distance ran by every player in the four grand final teams across the entire 2015 season."
