Doug connects with community in 43 years with Telstra
THE networks Doug Savage has established during his 43-year career with Telstra extend beyond the telegraph poles.
Mr Savage said the most positive part of his time with the company had been developing relationships with the community.
"There are a lot of people who know to call me if they have any issues," Mr Savage said.
"I've had excellent training and excellent opportunities during my time here."
Mr Savage has been presented with a medallion for the years of service he has given.
He arrived in Gladstone in 1970 at the age of 18, and has watched the city blossom.
The Sun Valley resident is an active member of the community, volunteering with the SES and VMR.
Plans for Mr Savage's future include travelling Australia and spending time with his family.
