Gladstone Eisteddfod moves on to vocal performances
THE hits of ABBA were celebrated yesterday when Aurora McBride and Annamonet Massey took to the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre stage.
The duo performed a medley of the band's hits, including Mamma Mia and Dancing Queen.
"My nan is such a big fan of Dancing Queen. I watched the ABBA movie and fell in love with the music too," Aurora said.
The 11-year-olds met while practising their roles in Peter Pan the musical last year.
Now the only thing keeping them apart is the fact they go to different schools.
"We had to perform together again because we had so much fun (performing the musical)," Annamonet said.
Donning sparkling pink dresses and high silver boots, the pair looked and sounded the part.
"I felt like it was a good performance. It's one of the best parts, dressing up.
"It was lots of fun today," Aurora said.
They won yesterday's modern vocal duo for 12 years-and-under category at the Gladstone Eisteddfod.
The vocal section of the eisteddfod continues on Tuesday.
Students will take on modern and classical vocal solos and group performances today.
