Irish dancers show off fancy footwork at state level
SPRAY tans, bouffant hair and bouncy dresses all featured in the State Irish Dancing Championships in Caloundra earlier this month.
Five Irish dancers from Gladstone competed in the event and did exceptionally well in every category.
Volunteer instructor Kylie Ware said the competition was tough but the girls rocked their performances.
"The girls remained confident throughout the whole event - they worked really hard and we are really proud," she said.
"They all danced beautifully, had fun and forged new friendships along the way."
The girls competed in age group categories from seven years to 12 years.
Each competitor performed three dances including the hard shoe round, the soft shoe round and a set dance round.
Replica Irish dancing balloon dolls were made by Happy Faces - Face Painting and Glitter Tattoos to celebrate the girls' success and hard work throughout the year.
Irish dancing classes are held each Saturday at the Gladstone PCYC.
