Crews leave scene after containing fire at Moongan

A FIRE burning at Leydens Hill Rd, Moongan, about an hour west of Mt Larcom late Tuesday was contained by urban and rural fire and rescue service crews.

Four units were in attendance after receiving the call at about 5.20pm, with the fire about 200m from homes and property.

Thick lantana and undergrowth hindered the fire's progress, allowing crews to contain the blaze, despite rural crews needed to assist the urban units, who could not access the flames.

The fire was about 50m by 100m in size, and crews left the scene at about 7pm Tuesday night, after containing the fire at 6.35pm.
