Crews bring fires at Tannum Sands, Banana under control

A FIRE at Broadacres Dr, Tannum Sands, that burned through more than 1500ha of bushland was contained late on Tuesday.

However, fire crews were keeping an eye on the blaze.

Back-burning efforts were undertaken on Monday along Tannum Sands Rd to protect property and people, with no assets directly threatened as of Tuesday.

A fire which broke out about 13km from Banana on Banana-Baralaba Rd on Tuesday afternoon has been controlled, after a broken down ammonium nitrate truck was believed to have sparked the fire.

A fire service communications officer said the fire was under control as of late Tuesday afternoon.
