Former Qld Cup player rediscovers love for game at Brothers
A FORMER Queensland Cup player, Robbie Congoo lost motivation for his rugby league when he began to play back in the A-grade competition.
But this year has been a turnaround for the dummy half, who's found the drive to play hard once again, inspired by some old heads at Brothers.
Playing in his third season for the club, the first two passed Congoo by without much thought as he concentrated more on work than his league.
This season though, a rejuvenated line-up has sparked the former Cowboys under-20 player into action.
He's found the time around his shift work to put the hard yards in and finding his side on top of the ladder.
"I guess with the change of staff and players, it is a culture change," Congoo said.
"The boys who have been here for five or six years have stood up to say they want to get the culture back.
"We get together after training and games, and compared to the last few seasons the boys are enjoying it a lot more."
The change has had a major effect on Congoo, who has quickly found his feet once again and is even considering the chance of another Queensland Cup run.
At 26 years old, the Brothers player believes now is as good a time as any to start looking.
"I am looking at trying to do that," he said.
"I came here looking for work and this year I am really enjoying it with the boys."
First of all though, Congoo wants a premiership and thinks his side is well on the way to success, currently leading the way in the Gladstone competition.
