Have a coffee with... Gladstone Hospital's Dr Nicki Murdock
Name: Dr Nicki Murdock.
Occupation: Director of medical services, Gladstone Hospital.
Years in Gladstone: Nine months.
I can't remember the last time I… wasn't studying. I'm still writing essays but I enjoy it. Life is interesting. I like learning more about the ethics in health care.
When I was young, my dream was to…act in Shakespearean theatre. But when those dreams didn't come true, I followed a career in medicine. Mum was a doctor.
I would consider Jamie Oliver to be my hero. He puts himself out there and he is often attacked for the things he does.
On a sunny Saturday afternoon you can find me… walking my dogs Sandy, the kelpie cross, and Noodle the Spoodle.
The best way to navigate through the Nightowl carpark is…to travel very carefully.
And when I leave the Nightowl carpark I always turn left. Always.
I'm usually at Miss India. That's my guilty pleasure and of course, Cadbury chocolate. It has to be from the UK. When I go overseas, I buy one kilogram and divide it up between the four people in my family.
I would eat fish from Gladstone Harbour...I haven't before, but I'd give it a go.
My date to the Academy Awards would be… Hugh Jackman. He seems like a really nice person.
Somewhere Over the Rainbow…. would be included on the soundtrack to my life. And Meryl Streep would be cast as me in the movie about my life.
My first order of business as newly-elected PM would be...to take a fresh look at indigenous health care. A lot has been done but I don't think we are getting it right at the moment.
Gladstone Hospital will host an open day on October 13.
