All systems go for drive-in movie night

THE CQ Starlight Cinemas is scheduled to re-launch this weekend.

A movie licensing issue prevented the company from screening two films last weekend in Gladstone and Rockhampton.

After more than a year of searching for a supportive venue partner, the declined licence approval came as a blow.

Total Party FX manager Ben Dyer said everything was back on track now, with no need for the public to worry about licensing issues.

"The setback has nothing to do with food or showgrounds licensing," Mr Dyer said.

"All pre-prepared food from our vendor has approval, and the Gladstone Showgrounds have always been supportive."

Gates open for the CQ Starlight Cinema drive-in at 5.45pm on Saturday.

Cost is $20 per vehicle with one to two passengers, and $5 for every extra person.

The movie The Smurfs will screen at 6.15pm, with 50 First Dates at 8.30pm.
