Chopper airlifts man from bulk carrier off Gladstone coast
A SAILOR on a bulk carrier anchored off the coast of Gladstone has been airlifted to Rockhampton.
RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue 300 was tasked to retrieve the man at 7am on Saturday.
The 26-year-old sailor had been experiencing severe abdominal pain.
After being assessed by ship medical staff, a decision was made that the sailor needed to be transported to hospital.
Rescue 300 landed on the forward deck of the bulk carrier MV Jawor.
The crew was met by a safety party with the ill sailor.
The patient was assessed by the on-board paramedic before departure.
He was then transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital in a stable condition.
