Child abduction attempts: Stranger danger still vital

SEVERAL reported incidents in the past week have put parents on the Darling Downs on high alert.

Two girls, aged 9 and 10, were approached outside a primary school in Chinchilla by an older man who asked them to get in his car.

Yesterday in Roma, a 13-year-old girl was told by a man believed to be aged in his 60s to get in his car, claiming her parents had asked him to pick her up.

In Toowoomba recently there have been several alleged abduction attempts, some occurring at shopping centres, reported across social media sites.

Even in smaller country communities, it is paramount that parents are vigilant and know where their children are at all times.

It is just as vital that children understand stranger danger.

The Darling Downs may be a relatively safe place to raise a family, but that does not make the region immune to these kinds of dangers.

Have you taught your children about stranger danger?
