Festival celebrates the sea with plenty of family fun

IT'S almost time to grow those sea legs, practice your best pirate drawl and head to the Gladstone Marina parklands for a fun filled family day celebrating all things sea worthy.

Celebrate the Sea, organised by Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Limited, will run from 11am-4pm on Sunday, March 23, with SpongeBob Squarepants, Patrick Starfish and friends visiting from Bikini Bottom in a live stage show, along with music from local bands 2 Doors Down and The Corporates.

There will also be a jumping castle, pirate ship rides, face painting and lots more.

Winners of the fancy dress competition will take home a new bicycle.

There is also a lucky door prize of a full-day fishing trip with Johnny Mitchell Fishing Charters, which will be drawn at 3.45pm.

GAPDL chief executive Glenn Churchill said the event had been planned from community feedback wanting more family-focused entertainment on the weekends.

"The event will celebrate our coastal lifestyle and presents us with a wonderful opportunity to showcase Gladstone as a great place to live, work and play," he said.
