Annual festival, art show receives $10,000 funding boost

THE Captain Cook 1770 Festival and Art Show has received a huge boost, scoring $10,000 in new funding from the Tourism and Events Queensland Regional Development Program (RDP).

The funding will help deliver a great show next year from May 19 to 27.

The Festival and Art Show is one of 39 events across regional Queensland to secure a share of the $1.5 million in fresh funding - and the only recipient in central Queensland.

The Regional Development Program aims to double the amount tourists spend in our regions, from $15 billion to $30 billion, by 2020.

The latest splash of cash means total RDP investment in Queensland is more than $22 million since 2001.
