Police to investigate 'intentional' car fire
A CAR found "well alight" in Toolooa early Tuesday morning appeared to be purposefully lit according to Gladstone Police.
Child Protection and Investigations Unit Acting Senior Sergeant Owen Stuttard said police were called to the car fire on Whiting St at about 4.40am.
"Subsequent investigations identified the likely cause of the fire was intentional," Sen-Sgt Stuttard said.
He said two men were seen in the area of the incident but their identity was unknown.
He said the owners of the car had been notified and were "shocked" by the incident.
"At this stage we have no indication this is linked to any other crime," he said.
He said police would be looking at potential arson or unauthorised fire charges.
He said there were no injuries due to the event and no other property damaged.
Anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of Darlymple Dr, Whiting St and surrounding areas between 4am and 5am, or any other information, have been urged to contact police.
