Two changes in Capras side with Gladstone players out
FORCED changes to the Central Queensland Capras Intrust Super Cup side has seen two Gladstone players miss out on a spot for this weekend's clash with Mackay Cutters.
Cooper Nobbs is making a return, filling in for Gladstone's injured Tyson White.
John Clayton, who is returning from a groin injury, will take the place of Gladstone Wallabys player Sione Tongia.
Tongia was unavailable for selection because of family reasons.
Capras operations manager Walson Carlos said that Nobbs and Clayton would step up to the challenge this weekend in Mackay.
"Until John Clayton hurt his groin in the Broncos trial I would say he was clearly the Capras standout forward in the pre-season," Carlos said.
"Cooper Nobbs is a young player who is on the up. He has already played 15 games of Intrust Super Cup over the last few seasons and now I think he is ready to seriously challenge for a regular spot in the team."
Set to take on Cutters at Virgin Australia Stadium on Saturday night, the M Group Challenge Cup will also be on the line.
The annual three-game series is played between the Capras and Q-Cup rivals the Cutters.
The Capras have the opportunity to take the series with a win on Saturday after taking out the trial in Rockhampton earlier this year and at the same time could end the side's 21-month run of losses away from home.
Capras team: Cameron Munster, Jackson McEwan, Russell Webber, Joshua Benjamin, Cooper Nobbs, Ian Webster, Gavin Duffy, Arlin Paki, Darcy Etrich, John Clayton, Alan Rothery, Brent Williams, Gavin Hiscox.
