Capras keen to hit the track after 2014 draw is released

CAPRAS coach Jason Hetherington can't wait to hit the field following the unveiling of the 2014 Intrust Super Cup draw on Friday.

The Rockhampton Leagues Club Capras are set to go head to head with Burleigh Bears in round one of the 2014 season at Pizzey Park.

Having defeated the Bears on both occasions in 2013, Hetherington said the Capras would head into the clash with confidence.

"We will always go into the match confident, but all of the sides are improving," he said.

"It's always going to be tough down there and we just have to prepare ourselves right to give ourselves every opportunity of winning."

With seven home games in the first half of the season, Hetherington (above) said the draw gave the Capras the perfect opportunity to start their season on the right note.

He was also excited about the prospect of heading "overseas" to face competition newcomers Papua New Guinea at Kalabond Oval, Kokopo in round three.

"We have a few home games early which is really good for the football side of things," he said.

"I think it will be exciting to head over to PNG early. I'm expecting a big side, and a passionate side.

"PNG will be hard to beat; they love their footy and we're going to have to prepare well."

The Capras are set to host another live television match during the regular season after the success of the previous two telecasts.

Hetherington said he hoped to see the annual Country Week match in round 23 played in regional Central Queensland.

"I'd like to see the Country Week game somewhere in regional Central Queensland after we played in Roma this year," he said.

"Somewhere like Emerald or Blackwater would be good, but I don't mind too much.

"We will also still be taking games to Gladstone and other regional areas in CQ, but they haven't been confirmed yet."

The new 13-team competition kicks off on March 1-2 and will be played over 26 rounds. The top five teams will contest the finals series starting September 6-7 before the ISC grand final on September 28.

The ISC premiers will meet the NSW Cup champs in the inaugural National Final on October 5.
