Eight Calliope school students shaved hair for their mate

WHEN Calliope State School student Steven Vesel was diagnosed with cancer, eight of his classmates wanted to go the extra mile for their mate.

Seven boys and one girl lined up to shave their heads on Wednesday, to raise funds for the Vesel family during Steven's courageous battle with neuroblastoma.

Classmate Connor Ninness said he wanted to do anything he could to help.

"I don't care how long it took to grow all this hair," he said.

"If it's for my friend Steve, I will do it."

The community has rallied together to help with costs associated with Steven's treatment, raising more than $3000 already.

Principal Marni Morrison said she was proud of the school community.
