Callide dam flood warning released for midnight

A WARNING was issued for residents in Biloela to consider evacuating as the Callide Dam was expected to release water at midnight.

An operator at the Biloela Local Disaster Management Centre said it wasn't too busy at the centre at about 1.30am.

The warning released at 11.34pm, said the a release was expected but it shouldn't break the banks immediately downstream in Biloela. .

"Callide Dam - A low level release from Callide Dam is expected at approximately 2400hrs. (Midnight)

A release rate of less than 10% is expected and is predicted to be contained within the banks immediately downstream in the Biloela area.

Residents in low lying areas who are prone to flooding along the Callide Creek should consider evacuating to friends and family first. If the need arises for emergency shelters to be activated in the Shire, the Local Disaster Coordination Centre will provide advice accordingly.

The LDMG continues to work with Sunwater monitoring levels of the Kroombit Dam however there has been no significant rainfalls in the catchment and there are no expected releases.
