Busy Zoe has just got that athletic touch
TOUCH: Zoe Geiger knew she had talent in Touch when she made the Gladstone under-10 representative team a few years ago.
And that trend has continued when the 12-year-old has been selected in the Port Curtis U15 Touch team which will compete at the Capricornia trials in Mackay next Wednesday.
"I have been training hard for that and have enjoyed it since then," she said.
She plays in a variety of positions, but is used as a centre at representative level.
Her brother Mack will also take part in the trials in Mackay and Zoe said she has received plenty of support.
"My family have supported me a lot and all of my different coaches as well," she said.
Zoe is also very talented in athletics and she has qualified in hurdles, javelin, long jump, discus and high jump for the Queensland Little Athletics State Championships in Brisbane from March 23-25.
She won gold in all these disciplines at the recent Regional Championships and qualifiers in Gayndah and she also broke a record that had been set nearly a decade ago.
That was in the hurdles in which she bettered the previous record by .27 seconds.
Zoe said that Sophie Duff has been another who has been a great influence in both Touch and athletics while Rockhampton-based coach Brett Richards gives her some handy tips.
"In Touch I do rep training on Sunday afternoon and Hannah Slaughter has helped me a lot," she said.
