Brothers to celebrate 25 years

CRICKET: There will be many a story told when the Gladstone Brothers Cricket Club past and present players celebrate the club's 25th anniversary.

The function will be held at the Clinton Clubhouse this Saturday from 6.30pm.

Life and founding member of the club Shane Condren said the club got off the ground back in 1990 helped along by Brothers Rugby League stalwart Paul Smith.

Paul Taylor is another founding member and he said there have been many highlights.

"They have been the three A-grade premierships the club has won and I have been involved with the three reserves ones,” Taylor said.

The club finished runner-up in the Gladstone Cricket Incorporated A-grade grand final to The Glen in 2015-16, but were replaced by BITS this season just completed.

Club president and current player Andrew Cirson has been involved at the club for 13 years.

He hopes the reunion may generate more playing numbers moving forward.

"We need as many people to come and the more, the merrier,” Cirson said.
