BRIANNA Abdoo will compete against a bevy of other bikini babes on Saturday night in the second heat of Procon Leisure's Maxim Australian Swimsuit Model Competition at the Tannum Sands Hotel.

The 21-year-old works as an administration officer and has lived in Calliope for just over a year.

With extensive modelling experience, Ms Abdoo is a hot pick to get into the final for Saturday's competition, which managed by Aurora Model,

She has featured five times in Zoo Weekly Australia, selected as a finalist in Zoo Weekly's Top 100 Beach Babes, walked the catwalk for Alex Norrie Swimwear, has been a national finalist for Miss V8 Supermodel and Miss Hawaiian Tropics (representing Zodiac Nightclub in Rockhampton) and taken part in numerous photo shoots.

Ms Abdoo decided to enter the competition for the extra experience and the chance to be on the cover of Maxim.

"You have to be in it to win it," she said.

"Some people see comps like this as an attention-seeking thing, but to have the guts to get up on stage and strut your stuff in a bikini is an inspirational thing to me and hopefully to other girls. Body image these days is a huge thing and to promote healthy body image is very important and girls should be empowering each other, not letting each other down.

"But mostly for the experience, it's a huge adrenaline rush walking out on stage."

The winner of the final, held on March 22, will receive a cash prize and flights to the Gold Coast to compete in the national final.

Saturday's event will run from about 8pm until 10.30pm.
